The Swaida Intellectual Digital Magazine adopts an editorial approach that combines academic rigor and strict documentation standards with clear and accessible analytical writing. The journal aims to publish high-quality scholarly and analytical content that contributes to a deeper understanding of the political, social, economic, legal, cultural, and administrative issues affecting Suwayda and the broader region.

1. Editorial Principles

1.1 Objectivity and Methodological Neutrality

The journal adheres to an objective writing style that avoids moral judgments or value-laden characterizations of individuals or groups.

• Analyses must be based on verified sources, empirical data, or established academic research, rather than personal impressions or political positions.

• Language that grants symbolic superiority or normative evaluation to any actor is avoided.

1.2 Avoidance of Generalized Attribution

Positions, roles, or actions should not be attributed to individuals or institutions as exclusive representatives of broader groups unless supported by official documentation or explicit, public authorization.

1.3 Analytical Language

Contributions should employ analytical and descriptive language, situating facts within their historical, political, and social contexts without adopting definitive or declarative narratives.

• Encouraged formulations:
  “It appears that…”, “This may suggest that…”, “This could indicate…”, “Such developments may reflect…”

• Formulations to avoid:
  “This proves that…”, “This confirms that…”, “The truth is…”, “This definitively represents…”

2. Types of Contributions Accepted

The journal welcomes the following types of submissions, depending on section scope:

• Research Studies: Methodologically structured and well-documented academic research.

• Analytical Articles: In-depth analyses of local or regional issues from scholarly or comparative perspectives.

• Policy Papers: Applied analyses offering practical recommendations based on administrative or societal realities.

• Review Essays: Critical discussions of existing literature, books, or intellectual trends.

• Knowledge Dialogues (Interviews): Structured and moderated conversations with scholars, experts, or practitioners.

• Field Reports and Visual Documentation: Field-based documentation using images, interviews, and local sources.

• Book Reviews: Critical evaluations of academic and intellectual publications relevant to Suwayda and the region.

3. Academic Referencing

All submissions must comply with rigorous academic referencing standards. Authors may choose one of the following citation styles, provided it is applied consistently throughout the manuscript:

• Chicago Author–Date

• Vancouver (Numeric)

• IEEE

• Citation is mandatory for data, statistics, quotations, and analytical arguments based on other works.

• Primary sources (official documents, archival materials, verified interviews) are strongly encouraged.

• Journalistic sources must be critically assessed before use.

• Previously published materials are not accepted.

4. Style and Language

• Submissions should maintain a balanced, neutral analytical tone, free from political advocacy or personal bias.

• Texts should balance intellectual depth with readability for both specialists and informed general readers.

• Submissions are accepted in Arabic, English, or French, provided linguistic clarity and conceptual accuracy are ensured.

• Cities and locations should be referred to by their official names; alternative names may be mentioned only when contextually necessary.

5. Format and Submission Requirements

• Word limit:

  • Research studies and academic articles: up to 5,000 words (including references).

  • Analytical articles and reports: up to 2,000 words.

• Each submission must include a separate cover page containing:

  • Full name of the author

  • Academic degree and institutional affiliation (if applicable)

  • A short biographical note

6. Review and Editorial Process

• All submissions are subject to editorial and methodological review by the editorial board.

• The journal reserves the right to accept, request revisions, or reject submissions.

• Interview-based content is published only after final approval by the interviewee of the edited version.
